Sandra was born in Chicago in 1961. Sandra grew up in the Henry Horner Public Housing, and attended R. Nathaniel Dett Elementary School, and McKinley Upper Grade Center. Sandra is an alumnus of Westinghouse High School in Chicago. Sandra served one tour in Germany in the United States Army, earning the rank of a specialist. Sandra earned an advanced certificate in dietetic technology, and an associate degree in general studies from Chicago City Colleges. She has also earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Northeastern Illinois University, and a master’s degree in social work from Chicago State University with honors, where she served as the vice president of her graduate class of social work. Sandra has run for Alderman of the fifteenth Ward in Chicago. Sandra has been married to Ricardo Mallory for thirty years, and they have four adult daughters, and eight grandchildren.
